A very interesting love story can be found on the Bible in Genesis 24. We can see that the blessing of a parent is really essential before marriage. Abraham was very old and he wanted to have the best wife for his son Isaac. He commanded his servant to go and search for a wife for Isaac from the daughters of the Canaanites, he knew that this is the best for his son. The servant prayed for his mission to be succesful, this implies that no one can under estimate the power of prayer. He asked for a perfect sign that a young woman will let him drink and his camels too. And in a blink of an eye Rebekah came will all the signs manifested on her. The servant knew immediately that this is the right woman for Isaac. Verse 22 says When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out a gold nose ring weighing a beka and two gold bracelets weighing ten shekels. During those times this is an act that a woman is already engaged.
The servant bowed down and worshiped the Lord, saying, “Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master. As for me, the Lord has led me on the journey to the house of my master’s relatives.” This is according to verse 26-27.
The servant went into the home of Rebekah meeting her relatives. The harmonious relationship of two parties is still essential for marriage even up to this day. The servant speak about his mission.
Then they said, “Let’s call the young woman and ask her about it.” So they called Rebekah and asked her, “Will you go with this man?” verses57-58
“I will go,” she said.
Rebekah decided to go with Abraham’s servant even if she doesn’t know Isaac at all and never met him. The willingness to obey the Lord will bring in prosperity in our lives! we just need to trust HIM.
Rebekah’s mom and her brother gave the blessing for her to marry Isaac.
Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah. So she became his wife, and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.
They are totally strangers with each other but Isaac loved her.
I was so amazed that Isaac and Rebekah got married and blessed by GOD.
